The Greater Baton Rouge Association of REALTORS® has issued the Greater Baton Rouge Housing Market July 2014 Comprehensive Report below.
It’s been a very busy Greater Baton Rouge home buying season for local Baton Rouge REALTORS®, Baton Rouge Home Appraisers, Baton Rouge Home Inspectors and Baton Rouge Title Companies.
The New Orleans The Times-Picayune on August 25, 2014 summarizes this report as the following:
“The Baton Rouge area housing market saw strong gains in July, marked by an increase in pending sales, closed sales, however a slight drop in the median sales prices.
The latest report from the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors shows total home sales in the eight-parish region increased by two percent in July, totaling 856, 17 more than the same month last year.
The average sales price for homes in the region declined by 2.9 percent to $196,914.
Baton Rouge area pending sales increased by 25.3 percent in July 2014 over July 2013, while closed sales were up two percent. The median sales price rose 3.5 percent.
New housing listings in the Baton Rouge area increased, as well, by 3.2 percent, to 1,251 total in the seven parish area covered by the Greater Baton Rouge Multiple Listing Service.
GBRAR’s report shows sellers received 97.7 percent of their list price, which is equivalent to a 1-percent increase from July of 2013.”
