Petro Chemical Jobs in Greater Baton Rouge 2014-2018 FYI!
You may have missed this article by the Business Report in January 2012 about $30 Billion in Chemical Plant projects and expansions.
My Comment: I met with a man last week that is 1 of 55 within the Chemical Industry that’s helping to encourage industrial sector education by speaking at local high schools about the job opportunities in 2015 to 2019 in Greater Baton Rouge and the education of those employee that needs to be taking place NOW! He told me of the last major expansion in our area and how they had to hire trained labor from inside and outside the U.S. and not from Louisiana because the workforce here wasn’t trained in the skills needed for such expansions. Those that get the training now will do well financially between 2015-2019 because of scheduled expansion. Heck…it took that long just to get Interstate 10 done and it’s not even finished.
THE GOOD NEWS….he said that he knows a lot of Greater Baton Rouge men that work out of town and out of the country where opportunity knocks. He said that this time around, a lot of those same men will be able to stay in Louisiana and work and make decent $ instead of traveling for work!
NOTE: The Business Report article was written by David Jacobs titled “The State of Industry” January 10 – 23 2012 Edition and I can’t locate the article nor link on their website.
